So here comes another year of sockeye I have been watching the counts and by all means there not very good compared to last year at this point but hey why not get up at 2am make the long drive beat the crowd and fish I started out at the north end of the lake with about 20 other boats at first light on my second pass bam fish on a good 7lb hen I was thinking hey this might be a good day but well we all know baker and by 830 I only had 1 other bite with no fish so I decided to venture so I packed up and headed south found a area that looked fishy and with only 4 other boats even within sight and bam fish on the first pass and probably the best fight I have ever had for a sockeye turned out to be 9lbs at this point I was once again thinking I'm gonna vet my limit only 2 mire to go but after that second fish I lost 3 other fish in the matter of a hour and a half so really not a bad day just need more fish in the lake the water temp was 67 up north but only 62 down south don't know if that is why I had way more action but hey I will take it

Those are some nice bright fish with some good looking meat. Nice going with limited fish in the lake.

Curious what launch you used? I am thinking of heading up there early sometime in the mid-week but dont want to get up there and find no parking at the launch.

I launched from panorama camp ground only took 5 min to get to fishing grounds either directions and baker is always packed so get there early or come around 11 when people leave but also the bite always shuts off by 10 or 11

Well done, we made the trip up Sunday and only took home one for 6 hrs of fishing......Long drive for one fish hope the season heats up as time goes by. Great haul well done they look very tasty.

Josh H, try the lower launch at the bottom of the lake. they have tons of parking and the fishing seem hotter closer to the dam but that might change at any time.

Probably not going until the first week in August and will be in my Hobie, so if I launch at the lower launch, that is where I will have to fish. No long runs for me :)
