Figured I'd get out before this heat wave hits. I decided I'd try things I don't normally to to try and become more versatile. I focused on fishing deep for most of the time, it was different but I'd say also successful. I went straight out from the launch at the end of the pylons. A bonus was the water is pretty low and clear I was able to see a lot of the pylons that are usually deeper and people usually snag on and got about 5 lures haha. I started with a drop shot and first cast I got a good tug but somehow didn't connect. I ended getting 2 little guys probably a pound or so. The perch were pretty active and kept messing with me. I threw a craw with a 1/2iz weight in the same spot and connected with about a 2lber a couple cast in. I threw different cranks and sim baits but no more action. Fishing about 20 feet of water. I flipped the pylons back to the launch but all I did was lose my Pinchers on my craws cause of the damn perch I imagine. I decided to work the left bank (if you're looking straight from the launch) and work the pads and a rock pile over there. After 30 minutes or so with no action I come up on some wood in the pads and flip in there. This time a 1oz with a missile d bomb. I have a bad habit of making one cast in a spot and moving on, so I've been trying to make multiple cast in one area..it paid off. On my 3rd flip at that one lay down I see my line jump a little and start moving, so I set the hook (pictured below). I'm reeling and trying to crank this thing outta the pads but I'm just bringing myself to the fish. Crazy how strong the pads are. I mean if you would've asked me how big it was in the boat I woulda said at least 30lbs. after and exhausted fight and me making it to the fish I pull it out and it goes just under 4. What a fight for a 4 pounder. No more action on that side so I head over to the opposite side of the lake and get 3 more little guys on craws. I lost probably 3 fish during the trip which was odd. All in all a fun trip though
