Gave Deep Lake a shot and managed to get our limit of Kokes after 4 hours of trying. All fish were caught on homemade flies, no particular color worked better than the other. Fishing was pretty hard as far as getting the fish to stay on the hook. I thought for sure using treble hooks would help keep the fish on, nope. We were only able to land less than half the fish we caught, but that’s kokanee for you. We trolled in 40-50’ of water at 1.2 to 1.5 mph with downriggers. Garlic scent seemed to work the best on the corn. Very windy on the lake, thank goodness for the Terrova I-Pilot Link.

I too would have thought a treble hook would increase the catch rate. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report. I've tested a lot of hook configurations for kokanee and have found two snelled Gamakatsu #2 dropshot or #4 finesse wide gaps are your best bet for higher landing ratios.

I agree with the snelled octopus or wife gap I stack them close together. Deep lake is a cool place. What kind of size to the Kokanee? Any one been fishing billy clap?

Yep those little buggers on deep lake are escape artists for some reason more then other lakes I've fished! Nice to see they are getting bigger since I was there in May!
