This report for any who might want to fish the lake. Went out Sat. just before lunch, this was my first time back on the water in almost two years , so not a lot was expected . After a few color changes , hit the right combo being the 6" shasta sling blade UV shark design / with the big eye & the small size purple squid & 1 full med size worm , 3/4 " trailer 15 " leader 2&1/2 times the dodger length for the action . Not really seeing much of anything on the screen anywhere , making the rounds the end of the park over to the south end of the island , to Coulon park , the mouth of the river then back towards the launch . leaving that combo for last , and just north Atlantic City launch first of 4 fish in a row 45 mins or less all the way to to the north east end of Seward park . Bait the hook's drop it back 50-75 ft clip it send it down 30 and wait for the hit.

Now it may have been the right stuff , considering the off shore boat parade that were making a lap around the island would have been enough noise the rest of the Saturday boater's as well , What are to odd's of finding on the screen much less catching anything , low well I must say I was caught off guard needless to say. remembering back to Salmonberry's reports from the early in summer this year , Ya color dose matter and yes the worm play's a part as well , Big Thank You to Berry . the UV shark made the big difference as all other combo's produced nothing .

the only bad part I didn't have the pics that were taken to show the fish , 18+ " biggest 10 " being the smallest all Cutthroat pics on the girlfriend's phone maybe next report I could add them, didn't have enough time to have her download the pics to my computer .

All in all I was very happy with the outing , but to find the right combo and catch fish too , well how do ya top that after being away from it so long again thank's Berry .

Hey. So frustrating. Out the same time same place but skunked. Again.

Do you mind taking pictures of your rig or post urls where to buy?

I am new to the area and type of fishing and was using jet divers as downrigger are hard to install. Was fishing with hoochies and needlefish.

Also how did you decide 30 ft? Do you use the lake buiy data?

cvt123,----- Oh my sorry I missed your comment , Well SPORTCO in FIFE has most everything that you might use I do make a lot of lures myself however . Now the combo I had the best luck with was the smallest size squid clear with purple specks smallest sliver blade 7 clear beads & 2 #2 Eagle Claw hooks / slip tie like salmon leader & 1 hole med. size worm altogether 14" leader connected to 6" Shasta sling blade UV Shark pattern 50' back & 30' down on the wire NOTE: working the area to left of center line of the river back n forth seeing fish on every pass trolling west proved to be the best. Now like Salmonbarry might say just because a rig works good one day does not mean it might do the same the very next day so! have a few different rigs as back up I like to have at least 6 or more to change up if the fish don't like what your presenting , another thing herring strips small sized some times catch the fish too. My biggest concern when I go out to fish is how much wind & which way its blowing BIG factor low wind 2-6 mph is what I look for when checking the weather report before heading to the pond. Hope this info helps you cvt123 once you find what catches the fish every time ya go it only gets better . Just for what its worth if ya see a little 12' green boat with a 9.9 Johnson and the NWFR stickers on the side don't be shy ,come on over and say howdy , would be more than happy to share anything and everything to maybe help catch fish , as for any data this web site the weather report best info I can think of, have to say Mike & Aaron with the others started this web site a long time ago & ya it works . Good Luck greenboater.
