Buddy and I had a stellar day fishing for bulls today. We only had until 1pm to fish today so we made sure to plan our time to pound over the best water we could. The first place we went to was a trib that was running low and clear, it was no good, we left after 20 minutes of twtiching jigs there, next stop was a coho pool on the main river, it had better vis and i went 2/3 there in about 30 minutes, then it went dead and we moved on. We found another small trib to be running about 2 1/2' vis and it was game on once we started fishing it. The first pool we stopped at, we landed 15 bulls ranging from 18"-30" including my personal best bull to date. The next few kms of river we hiked produced a few fish here and there including a couple rainbows my buddy caught. By the end of the day i landed 9 bulls and 2 coho, buddy landed 15 bulls and 2 rainbows for a total of 28 fish for the day. Not bad if i do say so myself lol.

That's one heck of a day... I can't even get a nibble on the rivers this year. But I killed it out in the salt. Something's wrong here. I never fish the salt lol.

Thanks bud, its been a tough year for coho so far, ive only landed 9 so far, which is a far cry from last year. We'll hope the b-runs are a little more willing and plentiful.

Dolly Varden and Bull Trout may be the prettiest fish in a river. Period.

Thanks, they really are, as are the places they inhabit.

Thanks man! Next trip out I'll see if i can swing a few up on the fly. My jig is basically a giant egg sucking bunny leech. Should be good.

Nice job John! Were all the bulls you caught on twitching jigs? I haven't tried twitching for bulls too much, but haven't personally caught any that way.

All mine were on twitching jigs, all of my friends bulls were on a pink worm under a float.

Twitching jigs are deadly affective for bulls. I used this technique all last season along with flyfishing, floating pink worms/blades, spinners and spoons. Twitching usually does best. Spoons are the next runner up then pink worm under a float. Each technique has its moments of glory but my favorite of coarse is twitching jigs. Lots of 10+ fish days last winter.

Nice, most of my bulls actually come on spinners, but I have gotten interest from them with spoons and floated jigs as well. I should try twitching a bit more.
