Took a chance at Beaver this morning based on lots of trees near the launch portion of the lake, thus some protection.

One bank angler when I arrived at 7:15am who said he just got there also. The bank angler was bait Fishing off bottom. He mentioned to me that he might try Kastmasters since he saw a few rise. As I was gearing up one more angler who had a inflatable 2 man raft was getting ready to go out and that was it. No one else being Easter Sunday.

Spent a good hour trolling a new plug looking for signs of fish....nothing going on. Saw a few rise in the calm area across from the launch (park side) where a host of bank anglers were. Trolled by and tried my Bobber set up....still nothing.

Tried a spot I tried early in the morning using the Bobber. Finally a strike....missed 7 in a row before my first fish. Next 2 Hours or more I missed plenty and end up with 8.

As I headed in I noticed on the Park side had quite a collection of lines/lures hanging from the tree branches and stopped to see what could grab. Wow....the stuff people throw at these fish! How about a 3” Pink Buzz Bomb! WTH? I got that one loose and also a Thomas Bouyant Spoon, something I have never tried before. Cleaned up loose lines and despot of them when I got in.

I headed in and the angler that had the raft was now bank Fishing, so I asked him where the raft was. Said it had a leak so he was trying his luck from the bank. Told me that the other guy caught his 5 on the Kastmaster but he did not have any to use nor did even know what they were. I showed the few I had in my stash and saw that he was Bobber Fishing and asked if I could see his set up. Well, I ended up rigging him up and included a extra Bobber that I had on mine. While we were talking I casted out from the bank and had some action going on with my Bobber and managed to Hook one and gave it to him. The bobber that I gave him was small and you could barely see it and he could not cast it very far because of the heavy line weight with a shorter heavier powered rod, but he was able to get some strikes, but missed them. I mentioned to him that as soon as that bobber hits the water be prepared and draw up the slack because they will strike is as it sinks down. Sure enough a few cast later it goes down right away and yell to him, “Bobber down” and he nailed it!

I left at that point and he thanked me for mading his really bad day into a really good one. Not sure if he got his 5 but I am thinking he did based on the amount of action he was getting and the excitement about his opportunities to catch more. He now had what we all want when we go out there....confidence!

Rarely....I wish someone would help me learn river fishing, beach fishing and bass fishing.

Thank you scotrobe....9 fish (recent planted fish) in about 4 Hours is very slow in my book. Hey, Dan caught 4 in 30 minutes after I left. I might have done better from the bank that day as I really did not locate the fish that day. Also if you compared it to my day on Thursday at Beaver, 2 is being generous. I had a career day on Thursday.
