With the nasty weather forecast and Easter Dinner to get to later, I decided to stay close to home on some small water rather than hit one of the larger, less protected lakes for kokanee. Fazon has been on my radar for a while, but I had never fished it. Supposedly there are planted browns here, but since they are planted as fry I wonder how many of them just become bass food.

We were on the water by 11, and fought the wind and rain to troll a few laps around this pond. Pulled wedding rings and flatfish to hopefully find a holdover trout or at least trigger a bass strike and get some action. Also tried anchoring up and fishing powerbait off the bottom while casting rooster tails and spoons. Only sign of fish were a couple of BIG marks on the radar near the bottom in 12-20' of water that may have been catfish, and a fingerling jumping across the surface that appeared to be pursued by a bigger fish. We left the lake around 2:30.

Water was up in the parking lot, which I believe is normal for this lake. You'll have to back a long way in to launch, so bring your hip waders. Despite the weather and lack of fish, this was a neat little lake to see and I may come back in the warmer weather to try my hand at bass and see once more if there are a few big browns running around.

Legend has it that Tiger Musky were planted in Fazon to control the spiny ray populations...maybe you marked one..But I've seen the reports of how many brown trout fry they dump in that lake every fall, yet I have never heard of a single one caught. I am guessing you are right that the bass just eat them all. If you are looking for some trout action try to get over to Grandy (wink wink).

Wow, it would be fun to catch a tiger musky in that little lake. I might try to hit grandy between now and opening day, have you been out there?

I was out there on Tuesday 4/3/18, and the fish were rising all over until dark. We had quite a few hookups with dinks trolling flies around and I hooked into one nice fish of about 16 inches. I'm sure if you trolled a spoon or something they would go nuts. I have a couple Elgin God's Tooth spoons I might troll if I make it back in a week or two. They stocked 2k fish near the end of March.
