Sorry for the late report, been too busy to post. Hit Lake Washington Tuesday April 3rd. Launched out of Coulon Park boat ramp at 8:30am and was literally the only truck and trailer in the entire parking lot.

Headed towards the S. end of Mercer Island as usual and started trolling with a wedding ring tipped with a pink plastic grub, and a sling blade in silver/gold with bloody garlic scent smeared on it. Also fished a kokabow lure in pink and red, a hotshot lure and a Brads mini cut plug. Kokabow in gold got the most action. Trolled inside the no wake buoys along the Mercer Island south shore. Had 2 hookups come off before I actually landed the first fish of the day within my first 40 mins on the water. A nice 16" rainbow. After that it slowed down a bit so I headed to the area farther north between Mercer Island and Seward park. There I hooked into my biggest fish of the day, a nice 19" cutthroat trout. From there I trolled the south shore of the lake inside the no wake zone all the way down to the Cedar river area. Hooked a 14" kokanee (which was a surprise) and 2 other rainbows. Fished from 8:30am to 4:30pm to get my 5 fish for the day. Trolled between 2.2 to 1.6 mph all day and fished the downrigger from 20 to 35 feet. It was a very nice, but cool day. No rain and very light wind.

I fished Lake Washington a few weeks ago also (no fishing report posted, sorry) and the fishing was a little better. Got my 5 fish that day within about 4 hours, all in the S end of the lake around the Mercer Island area. It was bright and sunny that day compared to the overcast day I had Tuesday.

They're out there and biting so go get them. Its not red hot in the S Area but it's very doable. Will be heading out again Thursday so will let you know how that goes later next week.

Be safe out there! -G

Great report and nice to see the south end heating up! There seems to be some bigger ones getting caught so far this year which is a good sign early! I just posted my report from Friday and seems like we fish pretty much the same area when out there! Hopefully we will cross lines one of these days!
