7/15/2018 7:41:31 PMNice walleye and walleye are great eating! When it comes to table fair though salmon and walleye are at the 2 ends of the spectrum. Each are great eating but comparing one to the other is not the same.

7/14/2018 7:04:21 PMback in the day we used to throw them up in the bushes for the coyotes to find.They gobble up masses of salmon and steelhead eggs. Never tried to eat one, I hear the meats mushy.Still fun to catch.

7/14/2018 10:25:31 PMThey are a little greasy to eat but your not allowed to keep them in the stilliguamish and what you are catching are bull trout not dolly varden. Salmon, steelhead and cutthroat are much better table fare.

7/16/2018 6:09:06 PMThere are alot of people who don't know the difference. Everyone wants to call them dolly varden because it makes it sound special. Bull trout are fairly common around the PNW and deserve respect despite what others might say. Actual dolly vardens are special though. Typically found at higher elevations above anadronous barriers very few people run into actual dolly varden. They are easy to tell apart for the trained eye. A down turned maxillery, smaller mouth, round face, and less spotting near the tail are what you look for when identifying the 2 fish.
