Today, I decided to finaly make the trip up north and try lake Stevens for the first time. My friend Warren came along for the trip. We got to the lake around 5:30. I spoke to a couple of nice kayak fisherman at the ramp who where happy to give us some tips where to start on the lake. We ventured out to the main body and I set a glow in the dark popsicle colored spoon at 17ft. I went to get a second rod set up and saw our 1st rod getting bit. Had our first kokanee to the boat. It took about an hour before we got our second, and another hour for our 3rd. The bite picked up for us around 9:30. We ended up with 11 for 15. All the fish were caught between 14-25ft trolling between 1.2 and 1.4 mph. We found that pink sockeye slammers and a orange nerka bug (my own creation) to be the hot lures. I will be making a few return trips this year especially if the pierce county kokanee lakes are void of a decent population.
