This report is for Ebey Slough. The slough that runs from the mouth of the Snohomish through Marysville and empties into the Snohomish River. Fished from the bank a few hours late morning to 1 p.m starting at low tide and finishing as the tide was coming in. I finally caught and quickly released about a 12.5" cutthroat when I was about to call it quits. I was using spoons and spinners. Landed the fish on a size 3 Blue Fox in silver and blue. Also tried similar lures as well as bobber and worm the next day on the Snohomish River in Everett with no luck. fishing will hopefully improve through the summer

I grew up fishing the slew And the snohomish. I would ride my bike from Everett as a kid in the 1960s. I would climb down ladder in the center of the 529 bridge and fish off of the base. I would take a handful of worms and fish the bottoms to catch a chub. I would cut up the chub and drift fish it and catch 4 and 5 lb fresh sea run cutthroat. The chub meat really smelled strong and the fish preferred it to worms. Lures cost too much Monday back then as I paid for my fishing returning pop and beer bottles I scrounged for .01 and .02 each at the Everett ave. Grocery Store that’s still there. We didn’t have a lot of money back then so everything came home. It wasn't uncommon to bring home almost more fish than I could carry.

Sorry to hijack your report but I brought back a lot if memories I had not thought about for 50 years. Homelife was pretty tough so I learned to fish to avoid being home. Raising enough money for fishing gear taught me the value of hard work and how to manage money. Working to fish and fishing every chance I got kept me away from all the bad things my sisters and peers were getting involved in. LIFE didn’t go to well for them however mine has turned out awesome. So it’s fair to fishing saved my life.

Now those are some cool memories. Thanks for sharing. That is truly awesome how fishing went from an outlet to something that enabled personal growth Define responsibility. Just like a lot of the big salmon runs I wonder how many big larger cut throat still run? Best one I've caught was probably 2 lb in that river system
