We fished out of Keller Ferry 7/11 and 7/12. We launched and headed toward Jones Bay both days, Kokanee seemed to be abundant, the first day we found the kokanee in 180'-220' fow and the strike zone seemed to be 40'-50'. We had our limit of kokanee by 9 am so we decided to to head down river to Plum Point, there is an area that I had been wanting to try for walleye but it was to weeded up to fish so we started trolling for trout. We boated 4 nice fat rainbow and released a 24"-26" redband in about the next two hours. The largest kokanee for the day was a 19 1'2" that my wife caught, she also caught all the rainbow (I missed and lost several thanks to wind and boat control). The second day we got stared an hour later and fished a different area, we found kokanee in 70' fow and the strike zone was 45'-50'. Fishing that close to the bottom we had almost nonstop action catching little smallmouth bass but we did manage two limits of kokanee including a 19 1/2" that I caught. As with all kokanee fishing we lost several while fighting them as well as a couple right at the boat. My wife used a simple orange hoochie on a double hook st up and both days I used the new Oldgoat spinner and I just added a small hoochie. These new Oldgoat spinners are amazing, bite for bite the Oldgoat spinners have out fished all the other gear we have fished this past month, If I can get my pictures to upload there will be a picture of the spinner I was using. Both days garlic flavored corn fished at 1.4 mph seemed to work best. We plan on fishing the same are a few days next week so if you are in the area give us a shout I monitor vhf ch. 16 and talk on ch. 68.

Bob, I'm a little slow catching on and don't have any Old goat stuff yet, was the hoochie below the Old Goat Spinners?

Bob: I see that you are using a kokaboe dodger in conjunction with the Old Goat Spinner/hootchie rig. Have you noticed any color combination on the kokaboe that has worked better than any other color? Just curious if any color combination has made a difference. Thanks. Denny
