I always look forward to fishing Omak Lake in the fall. Once we get the first cold snap of the season the fish move into the shallows and can be caught in the upper 20' of the water column. I typically follow the shoreline and do best in boulder strewn areas and today was no exception. These fish respond very well to lures bouncing off rocks so I figured I'd give some old school cedar plugs from Canada a try. These lures have very erratic action and can bang off rocks all day without cracking.

For some reason the fish respond very well to chartreuse in this lake so I went with a small chartreuse and black plug and a larger one that looked similar to a young Cutthroat. Both were extremely productive but the chartreuse plug trolled with 1 oz of weight at 75' on the line counter was much more productive. Troll speeds were 2 to 3 mph and I tried to stay in 10-20' of water.
