Nice day on the water, cool, foggy/overcast, and best company. :-)

My lovely wife had it down on native 'bows, and I was trailing her with goose eggs until changing to a Kekeda perch pattern fly. Once done I put 3 fat 15 - 16 inchers in the cooler before she caught a keeper to keep the others company.

We had several hard takedowns, rod arched straight back, that let go by the time we got out of the seat and back to the deck. How can they possibly come unglued???

Debbie had several to the boat only to see them spit the hook about 15' behind the boat, my arms just aren't that long! LOL.

I caught a couple 2 1/2 pounders to complete my limit, so now I just relaxed while trying to help my wife finish her limit. She added one more, but was now close to noon and had really slowed down so we called it a day and headed for the marina.

Kekeda flies in black/orange and perch tipped with chunk of worm 155' behind the boat did the job.

Sure looks like a day well spent. It is interesting how on some days you can get several hard take downs and even fight a fish for a few minutes and then it just up and leaves and on other days you really have to goof up big time before one gets off. Same fish, same hooks, different days. Way over my pay grade. Thanks for the report.

Was talking to a friend about that last night and he agreed it's one of those mysteries we'll probably never know "why". In the end, a nice day on the water, fish in the cooler, time with my bride of 41yrs (anniversary was last Friday) what more could I ask for? :-)

Good looking fishes.

Great looking fillets Phil. Kekeda's are hard to beat this time of year. Congrats on another anniversay! Now about those Houdini fish.....
Tight lines and have a great Thanksgiving - Alan

The Kekedas sure are Alan, but they are also "unobtanium" of late, sure hope to see Dave back tying soon as my stash is thinning out. If I ever figure out the secret to those Houdini fish my cooler will be full and my wallet fat. LOL. Thank you for the congrats Alan, those who knew both of us "way back when" said we wouldn't make it a year, well, we sure proved them wrong! Happy Thanksgiving to all. :-)

Sounds like a nice day of fishing. When I am fishing for bows and I loose a couple, changing out the fly to a new one will eliminate that problem. Suddenly 100% catch ratio. Must be the hooks. A Kokanee setup with 2 hooks also brings a very high catch ratio for me. Good luck!

Actually, those were new Kekeda flies which are tied with high quality, super sharp main and trailer treble hooks. I'm a fairly seasoned Roosevelt trout angler, sometimes it just happens and this phenomenon is not at all uncommon on Roosevelt. ;-)

Looks like a fun day Phil! It's almost bitter sweet when they spit the hook right at the boat. In one way it was fun to see them but in another it would sure be nice to have it in the cooler. I always appreciate you sending those flies out there to do their work.

As for tying, thank you to everyone for being patient with me and inquiring about the flies. Without the long story of moving, remodeling, and trying to get settled I'm finally back up and tying. I just opened the etsy shop again and I'm taking orders. Again, sorry for the long delay and I really appreciate everyone that's been using and reporting on Kekeda flies. Take care everyone, Dave
