I have been living in Texas for the past three years because my kids live here now. I have been skunked here for almost two years, so I took a trip with my new inflatable kayak to a lake near Austin Texas that had just been stocked with trout (they stock trout in the winter here). Buescher lake state park has Catfish and Bass, as well as the trout they just planted. It was cold when I left my house, but the high temp was around 75 degrees (Texas is too hot). I tried out my new Advanced Elements kayak, but forgot the pump so I had to blow it up the hard way and could only get it about 2/3 full. The lake was very muddy all the way around it, and full of seaweed, so getting in and out was a challenge, as well as getting snagged a million times.
I was fully expecting to catch trout, so I was using a Panther Martin spinner and ended up catching 3 largemouths with it, two of which were decent sized. I have never caught 3 bass in one day before, and the bigger two fought well, so it was a blast. I actually caught one of them trolling. Overall a great day in spite of numerous challenges.
