With the forecast for the weekend showing thunderstorms again, I decided to take Wednesday off and get a little fishing in on the Hobie. I started my morning at Lake Goodwin, took a few laps around the lake and never even got a sniff. That lake has been disappointing for rainbows the past 2 years since the state really took the stocking numbers down there. It's always been tough, but fun. Now it's just tough. About 10am I decided enough was enough and snuck up the road about a mile to Lake Ki. It was a good choice.

BY this time I did not have much time left to fish, so I launched and got busy. Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoons have always been good to me on this lake, and they were again today, just a little different set up than I normally use. My typical set up there is a God's tooth right out of the package. About a 4 foot leader from the swivel to a duo lock snap, then attach the spoon to the snap. This makes far fast pattern change out, and allows the spoon to flutter freely. I marked fish about 25-30 feet, and saw some on the surface, so I covered the top down to 30 feet. Moving gear up and down, changing out patterns if I went through fish with no bites. With my time being short I really ran through gear fast. Finally on 1 line I put a God's tooth 50/50 kokanee set up on 18 inches of leader behind a dodger, and started getting fish. I caught 3 and had another 1 or 2 get off. I released al of these. Only having about 20 minutes left, I changed the other line out to the same set up, just with a silver shiner pattern God's tooth, and tipped both lines with a pinched gulp crawler. I very quickly landed 5 which I kept to smoke. 1 was a double header with the back half of that being a very nice healthy 20 inch rainbow. That was fun n the kokanee rod!

Great day again on the Lake. I like this lake as it's pretty relaxed fishing, and I can always drum up some action with the God's Tooth.

Video shows the action for the day.

Fun video and nice fish Josh!!! The fillet has fantastic color, about the same color as a kokanee!

Beautiful rainbow there! Can tell that's been a hold over for years I bet! Amazing how good they look when they feed on natural resources. Tight lines!
