Hey did we have a good trip or what? Haven't used my travel trailer since Memorial Day campout on the Thompson River so it was really good to squeeze in a trip before the end of the season. On Thursday 10/15 we took the trailer down to Ft. Spokane and then on Friday brought the boat down. Marcia and I fished Porcupine Bay on Saturday and got our limits on what was a pretty decent day. The wife really enjoys being on the boat, particularly when the fish are biting. We got a late start on Sunday and tried some bottom bouncing around Hawk Creek but weren't doing any good so we dropped down to Sterling Point and picked up 3 nice RB. Marcia had to go back for Dr. appointments on Monday so I fished Walleye up above buoy 5 and had a slow day. Got 5 eaters with just one here and one there with bottom bouncers. Tuesday my buddy Larry came down and we went back to Porcupine for Rainbow and really had a fun day. We were catching them and loosing them and loosing them and catching them on what turned out to be a very nice day. One of the wild fish was a bit bigger (3-4lbs) and really gave me a battle, one of the more challenging fish that I have caught in a long time. Larry took the boat home and then I took the trailer back on Wednesday. It was a good trip. Seems like Orange was the best color and my last small Kekeda fly was the most popular with the fish. For us 2.2 mph at 16 feet was the best producer. Go out there and get some!

Thanks for the nice report Mark! Good to see quality fish on board and hope to do the same next week. You guys know how lucky my wife is, maybe she'll leave a nice one or two for me. :-)

Hope you do good out there. Seemed like the fish were more plentiful up at Porcupine but maybe a bit bigger down by Sterling. Two of our 3 fish from there went over 2LBS.

Appreciate the feedback Mark, finished my diesel heater install yesterday and fired it last night. Will make life a lot more enjoyable this winter. ;-)

Hi Mark- Say, were you using any kind of flasher or dodger ahead of your fly? Last year when we were there in Nov. we just put our flies on without any flasher or dodger ahead of them and did real good. We used about 130 feet of leaded line and 50 feet of 12 pound leader then attached the fly to that. Thanks, and thanks for the great report. Denny

Yep we were using a dodger, my favorite being the Les Davis 3.0 with silver and brass. Leaded lines were very similar fishing with 3 colors completely in the water. With this cold snap maybe the fish will move up higher. Really don't know if the dodgers were necessary or not.

Thought I got you over running those dodgers! Can't argue with success; way to go!

Mark - Sounds like you had a great time. Nothing better than spending some quality time together on a boat with those you love.
