I could give Monday a Five but we didn't catch any Kokanee, other than that it was a real fun day and we got some nice Rainbows. It started out pretty slow and we weren't getting many hits and then around noon the sun started to break through and we had 2 doubles and a triple. Landed a really strong wild fish that was safely released, kept 2 limits and missed 2 fish. Most of the fish were 18 inches and nice and thick, quite a change from my November trip when we got our limits but they were mostly 15-16 inch fish and we released a bunch of wild ones. The launch was in really good shape with no ice and plenty of gravel. Was able to launch and recover in 2 wheel drive.
Also fished Saturday 1/8 at Porcupine and it was a completely different story. It was so slick that the truck and the boat were sliding sideways as I pulled in to get ready to launch. I would not have launched but I had sand and 4 tire chains so figured I could make it work. It was 15 degrees when we launched but sunny and not uncomfortable really. On the water if we were in a quite area with no breeze we could watch the ice forming on the water. The water seemed kind of dirty and we only got one hit all day and missed that one. When we recovered the boat we had to put sand down in 3 different spots before we left. Really needed traction devices on our boots. Not a safe place to be. So 2 days out of 3 on the water in January. Good enough for me.
Stay after them, one day you get em, one day you don't. So it goes.

Nice report and some very healthy 'bows! We've done below freezing trips, guide icing was a royal pain, and boss said no more sub-freezing outings. I didn't argue. :-)

Understand that, I'm just not very bright. The weird thing was the actual temperature was lower on Saturday at Porcupine but the sun was out and not that unpleasant. Monday it was 20 when we launched but everything was frosty and felt much colder. Oh, and then I melted the line to the heater and we were without it the rest of the day. Oh yeah, it was fun.

You got out and caught limits of really nice trout so that's a GOOD day in my book! :-)

fished Sterling Point Sunday. Fish were few and far between. No one lure caught fish. Orange seemed to be the only constant. Beautiful day and ended up with 6 keepers, lost 3 and no wild fish. Tight lines.

I had one rod setup for Kokanee, Pink, and it did almost as well as the Orange Kekeda flies.

Way to brave the weather and glad to see you did so well on the rainbows. It looks like we hope to get over your way around the middle of March. My fishing buddy can't go till then. I'm headed to Offitt on Saturday with a fellow log scaler and another friend. My fellow worker does nothing but fly fish, so it will be interesting to see how he does. It's been nothing but Old Goats and corn for me. Fish aren't as big as the ones in Rosey, but they're sure pretty and run 16-17 inch average. Anyway keep up the good work Mark. Hope to see you in the spring.

Denny: Thanks for putting the Old Goats to work and reporting the results! Appreciate both!!
