So, was I wearing the wrong hat, wearing the wrong tee shirt? Those finicky little fish outsmarted me again. Went back to the same place and did all the same things that had been successful on the 10th and narrowly missed getting skunked. Trolled 3 rods and tried a bunch of stuff but only one rod and one lure got a hit. A beat up old small orange Kekeda fly with a bit of worm got about 6 hits of which I landed the first one and the rest were all drive bys. The main hook was getting bent on about every hit so I replaced it with a new one of the same size and color. Never had another hit. Go figure. Just when I think I know what I'm doing those buggers throw me a new curve. It's hard on an old fart. It was a very foggy drive down so we didn't actually get the rods out till about 9 and maybe I should have kicked it up to around 3 mph without the dodgers but last time 1.7 with dodgers was golden and they hit several different offerings. Oh well, I'll just have to try more often. The good part was my fishing buddy Larry noticed that one of the tires on the trailer was in a bad way. They are not all that old and I had just missed that it had exposed wire on the side. We changed it out before we recovered the boat and disaster was avoided. I use a single axle trailer and a blow out along the road is something to be avoided I think.
Well, they won that round but I'll be back.

I heard it was really foggy and hard to navigate without electronics in places. We will be up there this weekend. Looks to be a bone chilling weekend but we are fishing so not complaining at all! Better than working. Thanks for the report. Tight lines

We didn't have any fog on the water around Keller, just the drive down was on the tense side for sure. Hope you get into them.

About your tire: I too have a single axle trailer and the load is always increasing. After a blown tire , I switched to a higher load range set of tires, an they have been very satisfactory. Good luck.

My mantra is if what you're doing or where you're fishing isn't working - change, change, change.

I also have several very worn Kekedas that were out fishing everything else. Hewesfisher tip - when you find yourself in that situation and HAVE to replace it, make the new one look old and battered then send it out! ;-)

You know Phil probably my biggest downfall when I'm not catching fish is because I'm too lazy to change. It was cold out and the cabin on the boat was warm. Nuff said.

Mark- I see I'm not the only one who was struggling lately. I was on the pond yesterday for 3 hours with only one fish to show for my effort. Its amazing how the fish can cooperate so well on two different trips and then ya can't seem to do anything right the next time. But that's how it goes. Gotta keep at it tho. Denny

Okay, okay I give!!! All the reports have been driving me nuts, so the wife and I are "planning" on making it down there for the weekend if the 4th. Curious though, how's the ramp at Lincoln and/or 7 Bays?

Haven't been to either one recently myself. Ramp has been good at Keller and Walleymark says it graveled at Porcupine now. Think if we don't have any major snowfall between now and when you get there you will be fine at any of them.
