Took Mike with me to Potholes. The launch at the state park is shallow but usable. The cold front that passed through seems to have slowed down the bite. Mike caught an eye and two small bass with a jigging rap at first light but that was it, so we went trolling. We couldn't find any eyes shallow or on most of the humps. For us, trolling open water, 20-23 feet, produced the most fish. There was a steady walleye chop on the water but it didn't help us. Trolling smile blades with 1 oz bottom bouncers and half a nightcrawler caught us 16 eyes, 12 bluegills, 10 largemouth, 2 bullheads and 1 crappie. We cleaned 8 eyes and 4 bluegills. The eyes were just nice eaters as were the bluegills. No plate sized bluegills this trip. Talking to other people at the fish cleaning station, proved it was a tough bite for almost everyone. They seem to have gone crazy with the fish structures, the things are everywhere.

Hey Mark. You run into any Round Worms in those walleye you cleaned? I cleaned a couple eyes and crappie two weeks ago and they all had round worms

I didn't notice anything unusual about the eyes I cleaned. The fillets looked very normal.
