I hit the lake for a little fishing in the afternoon. I was within about 500' of the boat ramp the whole time, as I planned. I tried water floatman, mohair leeches, and peacock carey specials along with several different chironomid patterns, but I mostly stuck with Chromie.
At about 4 pm fish started swirling all around on the surface as a small midge hatch was on. With both drys, emergers and pupa patterns I was unable to convince even one to hit.
But it was a heck of a lot better than sitting at home. I will miss this little lake until the westside trout opener next year. Rest well, faithful friend.
