I just spent a week fishing Curlew and had one of my best fishing trips ever. Fishing was slow but the size of the trout were great. Everything I caught was 14" to 18". Trolling with a red/white spoon or a Triple Teaser should work, but the locals say to use leaded line to get deep and use a red fly with white powerbait. While trolling, the fish I caught were consistently 14", but bait fishing with powerbait at night off the lighted dock at Tiffany's Resort landed 18" trout. It's still early and they say the trout fishing will pick up. The weather was a big challenge - some snow, wind, hail, and rain, but the weather changed almost every hour. There are squawfish in the lake but they planted tiger muskies to control them. They say its working well..
If you haven't visited Curlew and the Republic, WA area, you'll love it. The town is small but beautifully serine and pristine. This was my first trip to the area and I've been to every end of this state. This area is worth the trip.
