My daughter and I went to Lake Wilderness about 5 pm in afternoon on Memorial Day. The clouds were grey and threatening, but thankfully no rain. I tried trolling a couple of lures (pink Rooster Tail and a trout-imitating Rapala) with absolutely no results. My daughter used a Ford Fender with worm setup, with blades that are half bronze and half silver.
The best leader length for that day was about 18 inches. After awhile, I went to trolling with pop gear, too, as she was getting all the strikes. She caught 4 fish, and I caught 2 (split evenly between kokanee and rainbows), with me catching the biggest at 14". They were strong, healthy fish, except for the fact that most of them had some sort of pale-colored parasites that bore holes just under their skin (I've noticed this problem over the 3 years at this lake). This is very disgusting and disconcerting,
and I don't want to fish at the lake again until this problem is resolved, even though Wilderness has always been a productive lake for me.
