I would have given this lake a 5, but the size is a big disappointment this year. My first time camping here this year for 4 days. Last week the snow was too deep to access the N. side of the lake, but has melted out sufficiently now to sporatic patches. The wind storm last week took down numerous trees in the area and I had to cut out a large fir with my chainsaw. I see there is a new public boat launch/access area now, but another dissapointment. The closed road gate has been moved about 300 ft. down the road and they dug up and destroyed/blocked 2 of the best camping spots. The launch site is minimal, steep with large rocks placed in a V, so it will take some effort to drop a boat in. Only light cartoppers hand carried will work here. That's ashame they couldn't have moved it further down the shoreline and made it so small trailered boats could be launched. The older fishermen can continue to pay $5 at the Cove Resort I guess. The upper plateau camping area is now blocked off. I'm puzzled by this as it's no where near the shoreline and poses no enviromental damage.

Fishing was excellent and I caught and released dozens of fish each time I went out fishing a spinner and fly fishing. Size ranged from 6 inch-14 inch all bows. Water temp. started out at 51, but went up to 54 in the 80 degree temps by Friday. Windy the first day I arrived and almost dead calm for the following 3 days. This is such an awesome lake to fish when the winds corroporate. There are a dozen or more ospreys and numerous bald eagles fishing, so they are fun watching crash into the water. I had 3 otters swim up to my pontoon boat and check me out.
