We took on this lake early in the morning, launching The Doghouse onto a smooth lake surface. After three days of steady rain, it was pleasant to enjoy a fishing experience under cloudless skies, with just a bit of fog rolling around to make things interesting (It burned-off after a brief show...). A full moon last night promised fat fish (albeit stubborn). We caught all our fish going to the right from the boat launch--- WATCH FOR THE SHALLOW PORTION OF THE LAKE UNTIL YOU ARE WELL PAST THE "ISLAND". My son brought his camera along and was impressed with the scenery and the QUIET. A couple of BALD EAGLES made their presence known to us; we got some great pictures of them soaring above us and getting fish, too! The lake level is higher than it was last year, but still is only 15- 20 feet deep until you are well-past the grassy island to the right of the boat launch. We did catch our fish in 30 - 50 foot deep parts near the basalt cliffs.

This was a very special fishing day: I brought my son along--- he was graduating high school later in the afternoon. We sat in a small boat, fishing and talking, chatting while we caught trout and ate pepperoni sticks (they help draw the fish to the wedding ring lures we were using; every time we put our poles down to eat a pepperoni stick a fish would bite!). A great day fishing, passing on family stories and fishing "stories"--- What a memorable day. A tradition passed on to another generation! Thanks, WDFW
