We got to the lake around 06:20 am and waited for the boat house to open up. Once we got the boat rented and got in the boat with all of our stuff, off we went to go fishing for trout. The first hour we caught 3 trout about 12 to 14 in in length, great fishing, no doubt. Then after ohh I would say around, 2 - 3 hours we got bites but no catches. Then, around 10:00 am, we got more bites, got a catch and reeling it in, the trout broke the surface of the water (it must have been at least 15 in long), then the trout hit the water and then my pole really bowed to the point of breaking, then there
was a pop, my line broke. We think one of the otters (fat ones) got a hold of MY FISH and pulled it away until my line broke, I am using 8 lb. test. My friends daughter caught a trout and then lost it when it broke the surface of the water and came down and hit the water hard, loosening up the hook. My friend had a lot of bites and he caught a good size trout which was a real fighter, took awhile to reel him in. Getting that net under the trout is critical, you could lose your fish, right next to the boat.
After the boat rental was over, my friend, his daughter and I did some dock fishing. Well, around 12:30 pm, My friend hooked another trout and while he was reeling in, another otter tried to get the fish, at the same time another young teenage fisherman ran over and helped with a net and my friend just barely got the fish in the net before the otter took a nip out of the trout's caudal fin. Total fish we caught were 4 fish and we all had a good time. The weather was overcast and very little wind. Temperature was around 71 degrees. We had no rain, One exciting day, no doubt!!!
