We fished this lake for three days 12th, 13th, 14th for approximately five hours each day. Water temperature was steady at 66 degrees.

Our first day the weather was overcast with rain showers. We started breaking the lake down using a full sink fly line and tried numerous flies, the olive bugger, olive bead head bugger, dragon fly nymph, black bugger beadhead, black bugger. we altered our trolling speed to narrow down which seemed to work the best. Idle seemed to produce the most action. On our first day of action we hooked and released 10 and kept seven, 80% of our catch was rainbows in the 13-16 inch range the other 20% was browns around the same size.

Day two of our adventure we stuck with the olive bugger on full sink fly line trolling at an idle speed. The weather was overcast but we only seen one shower. on this day we hooked and released 8 and kept 10 all ranging in the 13-16 inch size except for one that was 17 inches.

Day three brought us phenominal success after launching and just getting our flies in the water we had a double hook-up one a rainbow and the other a brown. The one thing we did different on this day was add a small split shot to take us just a little deeper and it really paid off as we hooked and released 29 with 70% of them being browns, which is why we went there in the first place. I think we could have broken our all time record of a forty fish day had we more time to spend on the lake, but it was time to head back home to Maple Falls.

This was my old home lake back in the late 80's and early 90's and it was fun to be back out there again. It was also my first time to use flies on this lake and it really paid off big. Some folks were using gang trolls out there and were having limited success others had zero success. I've always enjoyed this lake and hope to return again sometime in the future.
