Alkali is a great and seldom fished lake...in the last year or so it has taken off. The dept. of fish and wildlife put some steril walleye in there a couple years ago to thin out the perch population, but the walleyes are all gone now. Also i was talking to one of my friends at the hatchery and he said they will no longer stock it with trout because it is too shallow and the trout will all die if there is a significant ice build up for an extended time period. So if you think your gonna land a lunker trout in there now you are sadly mistaken. There are a few nice largemouth bass that i caught in there though and a huge amount of perch and bluegill. i caught well over 100 perch and 10 blue gill in 2-3hrs the other day. Alkali was poisened in 1999 to make room for trout by the DFW and of course we had a cold long winter and tehy all died a few years later. Have fun fishing for the spiney rays in there though tehy love it there.
