11/5/2009 4:57:00 PMThere you go Quad! I knew I should have played hooky on Wednesday. The weather forecast for this Friday and the weekend doesn't look too friendly. Put 4 to 5 feet of 40+lb mono on your release and put a serious bow in your rod, you'll know immediately when you've got a fish on the other end.

11/5/2009 4:59:00 PMQuad you need different tension clips! Light for trout, Medium for smaller salmon Silvers, and a heavy one for Chinook! Nice fish! Light action Lami and Loomis rods are a hoot to fish with

11/5/2009 6:15:00 PMsorry but those are not cutts they are rainbows cutts have dark orangish red marks on they're throat hence the name "cutthroat"

11/5/2009 7:18:00 PMgoing postal, the cutts on the throat are not always seen on cutthroat trout. It can depend on the time of year/spawn or no spawn, and the particular variety of cutthroat. There are more than one. Others on here can attest to that.

11/7/2009 11:25:00 AMNice report... I have had the same problem w/ poor dr release. What works for me best is size four rubber bands attached to the line and dr release. The bands are easier on 6 lb line, plus you can see the action of the dodger or spoon very well. Easier to detect when fouled. I have gone 12 for 12 hook ups on cutts at
wawa. With the bands its irrelevant where you connect to the clip.

11/12/2009 7:59:00 AMthere are some nicve fish there mate...i have the same problems with release clips i hang my line far back on the clip as i can. braid line slips easier too..imo.. as for the cut/rainbow issue you have to lift the skin to see the red lines you cannot see them from a picture unless your reallly close..

Plus they are adjustable, and I do run them back 3' or so from the ball, use lite rod and a tight line. Trout will pop it most every time, Perch will not. I fish pretty lite .. 8# main and long 6# leaders to my lures. I do run every thing pretty far back from the ball, tho I've caught some nice fish with a much shorter distance. I do watch the rod tip religiously tho ...
