Decided to try Lake Washington for the morning to see what the Coho were like, but also try mostly for cutthroat. I started around the Moss Bay area and put on a chartreuse mini squid behind a metal flasher. I picked up my first cutthroat 15 minutes in fishing 50ft down in about 80 ft of water. It was a fairly good sized fish weighing 2 lbs 8 oz. I could see several marks on the fishfinder around 30 ft and then starting at 60 ft down to the bottom at 70 ft. I tried lowering the downrigger to 60 ft to see if I could get any takers, but nothing. I even tried changing lures to a Brads mini Wiggler, a Mini Cutplug, and a black and chartreuse wedding ring but no Coho. I did get a medium perch on the Wiggler when getting close to the bottom. I also got a smallmouth when I tried at 30 ft in 80 ft of water. Seems kind of strange picking up a smallmouth that far up in the water. I though they normally hang around the bottom or is shallower water. I picked up a second cutthroat on the Wiggler when at 60 ft down in 80 ft of water. This one weighed in at 1 lbs 11 oz. I didn't see a lot of sighs of Coho jumping, but looking at the numbers that have crossed the locked there are not many around. Anyways it was a good day to be out on the water, light winds and mostly sunny. There were only two other boats in the area fishing.
