Summer time fishing can't be beat (unless you have someone to carry a cooler full of drinks) My dad and i fished the Sammish slough near Bothell Landing, he using night crawelers, caught anymost every type of fish, squawfish, yellow perch (dozens), rainbow, sculpins, blue gill.

I threw a spinner and super duper most of the time and only caught a few perch. Came upon a marshy side pond to the slough covered in shady over hang and saw some small fish resting, but realized these were Large Mouth and easily spooky as i approached. So i had to ninja myself through brush and pitch a curly tail grub as quietly as i could. The smallest ones bolted on the cast so i though i messed up my one shot. But the larger of the bass came right out to check the offering and took it. I could clearly see how much of the grub was in his mouth and just waited until he had most of it before setting the hook. The school did not come back so that was my only shot. For a tiny bass, it was hugely rewarding hunt.

All fish were released unharmed (minus the squaw)
