3/2/2011 11:39:00 PMSounds like a good day out there on lake sammamish. I often fish lake Washington for cutts, but i would like to try Sammamish sometime too, see how they match up. Is there any special places people catch fish on this lake, or do the fish bite pretty much anywhere. I know most use flasher wedding ring and worm shallow, above 20 feet, or a needle fish right on the surface. However, i dont really know where the fish are found, i hear a lot about a weatheer station. Can you see this station from the boat launch, or is it pretty hard to find? Do they fish middle of the lake, or along the shores there? Sorry about all the questions, you did well and i just wanna see how you guys do it, see how much different it is from lake washington cutts. Thanks

3/3/2011 5:05:00 PMThe water weather station buoy on Lake Sammamish is located North from the park boat launch at mid-lake.
The Cutthroats have been caught everywhere on the lake recently and as you mentioned shallow.
Recently most fishermen have been concentrating on the South end of the lake because of the spawning Cutts in the creeks and the weather/conditions.
We have had days when the fishing has been good or better at the North end of the lake and other days not so.
Sammamish is a large lake and I would guess some people with smaller boats stay in the southern areas of Lake Sammamish
I usually start right out of the launch in 50 to 60 ft of water and zig-zag North from Issaquah creek to the weather station.
Last Saturday we trolled 3/4 up the lake finding fish here and there. 60 to 90 feet of water, 10 to 20 feet down for the gear and lures.
A RMT dodger with a hootchie/spinner was the producer for the day Saturday.
Tipping your lures with nightcrawlers and/or maggots and the use of fish scent oils and gels is a definitely must . Some days you need to change a color or a lure.
We have found out many times that when we aren't getting bit after a period of time, we will throw something else out there and surprisingly it has rewarded us. You know that It always helps to have extra rods in the water to see what the fish prefer.
Other guys swear by a spoon or lure on the surface during this time of year. We have caught several this way (some by just letting line out before clipping to the downrigger) but the majority of our fish have been in the 10 to 20 ft depth trolling.
