My friend Sean and I got off of work a little early today. Since the weather was so nice in the morning, I had a good feeling the fishing would be better also. Lately with the blue bird blue cloudless sky and high 80 temps the fish were responding the same way I would. ... Very lazily and not to feisty.

I knew this morning gave them a little reprieve from the heat and might help them feed. It worked out to be right. My friend and I caught about 25 nice perch and about 6 peamouth chub and 2 squawfish that were 18" and 16". Big ones. My friend also caught a nice smallmouth while perch fishing. It measured 18.5 inches and I would guess 3lbs or so... a nice fat healthy smallie that swam away angry to have been caught. Lol. It was a nice fighter. My friend thought it was a train on his 4lb test ultralite gear.

It grew hotter than we thought it would be, however, the bite stayed pretty steady on the perch and suckers. I am happy to report all suckers have been put to good use feeding Osprey and Eagles:)

Thanks,
Scott

What part of the lake are you fishing? I have a friend who wants to take his grandsons next week but I have only fished perch in lake washington.

Hey Kokanee..... I've been fishing the North East side bank about 1 mile up from the launch. It really hasn't mattered so much where I'm fishing as much as I believe it is depth. If I can find a flat that goes to a drop off in the 35 to 40 ft range. that's been the ticket. Using a worm and little power nymph in white or chartreuse does well.

Good luck.
