took the boat down and did a little fishing for myself before the nine year old neighbor came back from his outing to go fishing with me today. Got to fishing around 11:00, and used a ford fender and a green/black wedding ring. Missed three bites in a row within about 10 minutes of fishing. Was just checking my phone and looked over and hooked up. Had the fish this time. Using a deep six diver, the amout of weight was heavy and hard to bear on the light rod I was using, but still a good fight. Nice beautiful Kokanee. Sent the line back down and was just calling the neighbor when my pole got smashed. I reel up to find a missing lure and ford fender... Big fish or weak knot? No one will know. So now to rod two. Rod two: cabelas in- line rod. This had a similar setup. 4/0 dick nite dodger and an all green wedding ring. Missed probably 7 bites before finally hooking up. Just dead weight for most of the way up. Fish must of seen the boat, and gone nuts. In a flash, everything gets serious. It's a monster of a cutthroat. I grab the net and miss, and see this fish is barely hooked. I try netting again and grab it. Turns out to be about 20 inches and fat. Goregous fish. (Seen in photo). The day draws on and I catch a nice small rainbow and another good sized cutthroat as well as multiple more Kokanee. Called it good and went back to pick up the neighbor. After some lunch, we head back out. Just a whole bunch of Kokanee then. If only you could keep those pesky protected and numerous fish... Wedding rings and pink hoochies have been catching the most fish for me.

Yet another great sunny day to be out fishing and a few good keepers to take home.

Tight lines and good fishin!

Hardly any reports this winter from the usual run on Lake Sammamish cutts. Thanks for sharing your trip.

My father reported to me the recent return of sea gulls and other birds to Sammamish. They must be feeding on the hatchery released minnows, as are the cutthroat. This excitement lasted about 3-4 weeks last year.

Seems like the gulls are usually feeding on the chironomids hatching when it warms up late morning each day. Next cutt you keep cut the belly open and you'll likely find a black mush of bug goo. Mm mm good
