WOW! The fishing has turned on red-hot at the Hollow! I fished with my brother Chris (visiting from Wisconsin) and my son James. We had lines in the water by 6:45am, a bit of a late start. LT today was 10:45am. Conditions - light breeze, sunny, mid-seventies. The perfect late summer day. We ran downriggers at 50-80 ft deep today and briefly used a third pole which was put away because it was in the way. We trolled due south from halfway to Mukilteo going south. The bite began for us at 7:10 and for the next hour we kept very busy, boating six fish and having about 12 hits. Most fish came in the 50-60 ft range. White or green flashes, pink hoochies, herring strips (with my secret sauce). Things slowed a bit in hour two but we still caught a few. But from 9am to 9:55 it was lights out red hot. The doubles came (three of them, lost some) and at 9:35 I gave up trying to get a second line down. By the time the first rigger went to the magical depth (77 feet - lucky lucky) and I tried to get to the second rigger, it would be "Fish On"! I have never had this hot of a bite. By this time the tide had moved us well south of shipwreck. Anyway, we ended the day at 10am with twelve chrome bite pinks in the boat. Fishing this hot deserves an encore so we will return tomorrow and try our hand with jigging poles for a change of pace. My brother could not believe how good the fishing was, and neither could I! Even James will get up early and go with us, and that says a lot. Go out and get them NOW!!!!
