Hit the Tulalip " bubble " on Sat afternoon for some salmon and crab. If you fish the " bubble " at all you know that fish out here are far and few between most times, but we figured it was a good place to be able to fish and keep an eye on the crab pots.

Got out on the water about 2pm and left the madness at the 10th st boat launch in Everett behind. Busiest I have ever seen it. Short run to Tulalip and baited up the pots with some chicken and salmon. Pots down and soaking. Time to break out the rod and reel. Usual gear, flasher with squid plus a herring strip tucked up in the skirt of the squid is my go to rig. I used the light green splatter back, my buddy the large blue squid. Fairly long leaders behind the flashers for Chinook and clipped about 50ft from the rigger ball, down about 70-90 ft we go. We fish the deeper 250 ft water line mostly.

Troll for about an hour with nary a bite, no worries though, that's typ for the bubble. Stop and grab 4 crab from the pots, rebait and drop em back in. Fished for about another half hour. We had seen a few fish on the finder earlier so I figured we might get lucky yet. Just as we were watching 3 marks near our gear on the finder my buddys rod straightens out after getting pulled off the rigger line....fish on. Mad scramble to reel in the slack and take control of the fish. Nice couple of runs later he hauls in a hatch 11 plus lb chinook. We are happy fisherman. Gear back in the water and about another 45 min later its my hootchie that gets hammered...fish on. Two fish in one day on the bubble.no way. Well as it turns out..no way. After a brief run I felt the hook pull out and that was that..fish off. I was heartbroken. Oh well thats fishing, but still hard to take. Only two bites we had.

Anyway ended up with 8 crab and the nice looking Chinook. Beautiful day on the water and thankful for the bounty provided. Have fun and be safe out there folks.
