Fished for 3 days at WP, 3-5 July. All 3 days provided limits for the 2 of us. Mixed bag of silvers and nooks. We found it to be similar to the week before, pretty much any ole lure behind any ole flasher produced fish. Some worked better than others. Think small presentations for fastest action but large will get fish as well. Herring worked as well. We fished between 250 and 400 feet of water mostly West out of Grays, N or S a bit, didn't seem to matter much. Find the charters or commercial boats and you'll get into some fish. Dynamite fishing, it should just get better from here on out for the rest of the season if the fish number forecast holds true. The 2 of us certainly caught and released over a hundred over the three days.

OK, me first! You catch LIMITS and released over 100 in three days and rate it a "3". Tough audience, LOL. Let me know if you want me to change it, at least a "4" HA HA HA. :-)

LOL Mike! I do hear you! I want bigger fish! I do have high standards for this area. LOL Biggest was 17 lbs dressed(weighed at the dock), 22ish whole. Reserving the 5 for days that multiple fish yank the line out of my hand while I clip in to down rigger, the 12 pound silvers and mid 20s nooks. Coming soon to a boat near you! LOL
We had a dozen doubles the 3rd, 8 doubles the 4th and just a couple doubles the 5th since we tried a different area trying to locate larger fish.
Ha ha... this area can be and is at times, much better! It's about a 20 mile run from the ramp... Watch the weather!

I'll look at the rating system... 3, in the middle, would be average to me... anything less sub par, 4-5 would be above ave to excellent... limits of bottom fish and salmon might be a 4 to me if good size.... 5 would be large fish! I'll look again though.

1+ Tough Fishing - No Fish, No Luck!
2+ Poor Fishing - Caught a few but really had to work at it.
3+ Average Day - Caught some fish, had some fun.
4+ Very Good Day Fishing - Caught fish consistently and had a real good time.
5+ Wow! What a Great Day - Lots of fish - Great memories!

I stand by the 3, average day. Day 3 of fishing was slower, still great, but slower. Also, nooks must be 24"+ before retention....as well as silvers must be clipped and 16" before retention. So you have to catch a few this time of year before retention of a limit is possible. Who wants to keep a 16" silver, not me, gotta bust 20" even this time of year unless fishing is slow and you just want off of some rough water.
We had one, must have been a 5' free fall, coming off the top of a swell/wave.... the fall doesn't hurt, it's the landing. That "sierra hotel india tango" hurts! LOL

Ouch, you're a tough boater/angler... and I'll take your "3" any day of the week!
