The Pilchuck empties into the Snohomish River at Snohomish and runs up to Granite Falls and beyond. I've been fishing the Machias area and south of there. No luck tonight.

1/29/2010 12:23:00 PMNice report Splitshot. A surefire way to catch a nice 10 lb steelie is to only take your ultralight gear next time. :) PS. the clincher would be leaving the camera at home too. By the laws of fishing, you'd be guarenteed a big one.
I agree, unless you're a noob, I'd say it's easy to distinguish between the cuts and bows....and also immature steelie = rainbow trout.

1/31/2010 2:33:00 PMHistorically, the Pilchuck River has produced numerous native Winter steelhead in the 20lb. class. A UL outfit is not a good idea.

2/8/2010 8:44:00 PMSplitshot, dont take it personal. if it was only 15 inches it was probly a cutthroat. Returning steelhead are usually bigger.
