Took one of my 5 yo twins out for his first time on Sammamish... my first too. Trolled for trout with Ford fenders and orange wedding rings with a bit of worm. We got three between 17 and 20 inches a couple around 10. We also caught two Kokanee a perch and 3 of some other fish I couldn’t identify... those all went back in the lake.

Great report and it is cool you are taking your kids out. My daughter loves to fish too. You probably caught squawfish which I have caught in the lake bass and trout fishing. They make good eagle bait as they are eatin all the salmon frye. Thanks for the report!

I remember when they were called squawfish,We threw them up in the bushes to feed the coyotes, along with the dolly varden.

Thanks for the comment. With twins I get to go twice as much. It’s a little too hard to have them both in the boat at the same time.

Good job DAD! The extra effort it takes to get the little ones out will pay off in no time. The toothless smile puts a time stamp on it that will last forever. Thanks for sharing. Andy
