Caught over 30 fish. Kept 21 perch and 2 Rock Bass. Grilled them up. Yummy. (But a lot of work to gut and scale all those fish.)

Seems as though your luck improved from last time. Did you do something different?

Well, usually my son targets perch and I try to catch bass. And he usually catches plenty, but we don't keep any. This time, I joined him and we decided to keep the ones that were big enough to take home. Turns out 23 fish is too many to take home. :-) But they won't be eating any Kokanee smelt!

Anyway, the main thing we changed is that at some point we switched from worms to perch meat. I cut up one of the small perch and used it as bait. They went nuts for that, the damned cannibals. One after another. That was around 11am. It's great because they have a much hard time stealing the bait, compared to a worm.

Then around 12:30 it just died down.

That's great to hear you can use them to catch others. Keep up the good work. Yeah, some work, but once you get your technique down, not so bad. Starting now they do seem to put some shoulders on, so keep after them this fall and you will get more of the bigger ones. Cheers!

Thanks! Really, I just want to learn to troll for trout next. So just ordered some wedding rings and Ford fenders from Cabela's. We'll see how that goes!

I can help with that. Wish I had known about the Ford Fenders. Have those from Colorado, but never use them here. I usually troll faster than most because I don't have a specific gas motor for trolling, but what is important is matching your gear to the speed. They swim quickly, so speed isn't the most important thing in my opinion. Just need to put it in front of them when they're thick enough.
