Just like Jeffc reported for 2/24 on the lake. Super tough fishing and literally threw the entire box at them as well. A few weeks ago we took the kids out and did stellar catching 8 in about 2 hours. This time around it took about 2 hours to even get the first hit. Got 2 strikes on the north side of the lake and missed them. Spent about 3 hours out there marking fish at 60ft. We fished on the top of the water and trolled that's where the hits were. With the downrigger at 50-60 feet we did not get a single hit even though that's where we were marking them. Around 1230 we headed to the weather buoy and as soon as we got there got a hit and then nothing for the next 2 hours. Spent the day in the rain, hail, and sunshine. We ended up landing 1 and missed 4 but that was in a 5 hour period. We stuck out the storms on Saturday in our rain gear and stayed dry. I didn't really care so much about the missed fish, the rain, or any of that. I was happy to be back on the water again and fishing. I just wanted to give everyone a report that the fish are hard to come by right now and you really have to put in the work. We had 3 boats fishing around us throughout the day and I did not see any of them land fish or get hits. Wedding rings were doing the trick tipped with worms. I put 2 split shots on them to sink them a little and run them about 70-100 ft behind the boat. Troll at about 1.7 mph that seems to be my lucky speed. I was using a green wedding ring behind a luhr Jensen cowbell rig. Green was the color of the day. Last time we went out it was orange. We used every other color and the fish only hit the 1 rod all day. Funny story was I missed the 4 fish on my pole and my buddy was giving me a tough time. I went to the bow to grab something and my rod started going off. He yanked on it and reeled in a nice fish. Told me if I would have touched it I would have probably lost it again. Sad thing is he was probably right. Saturday was not my day but a day spent fishing is a day well spent fish or no fish.

Gotta totally agree with the last line there! I also haven't had more than 2.5 hours a day on the water since early fall. I had a great 3-4 hours out there finally, which I'd take over any day at the office. Rain or Shine! Thanks for posting and the info. Glad to hear I'm not alone :) I'll try moving up to the surface sooner next time. Thanks for the report!
